The frame (actually quite strong and durable) is made of carbon fiber -metal screws and standoffs are used to hold the frame together. 55mm props are used on the 4 X 8520 brushed motors. rubber grommets do a great job in securely holding the motors in place. The entire kit arrives in a box with the quad safely encased in foam. This BNF kit requires a compatible Spektrum or deviated transmitter. First Impressions: Holding the QX100 in my hands I was quite impressed by the way it felt. It feels durable and very well put together. Unlike some of the other micro quads I have tested, this one doesn’t feel like it will break after the first crash. I also really like the top plate surrounding the camera –this gives me peace of mind knowing the camera is well protected. Another plus I saw right away was the rubber grommets holding the motors in place. I was happy to see that they aren’t easily movable, actually an excessive amount of force is required to even move it: a big plus in my book. With a thicker than normal carbon fiber frame, the QX100 does also weigh a bit more than what I am used to – this is the detriment to having a stronger frame. I need to mention that I am not using the supplied flight controller. Apparently I can NOT read very well -by the time I realized the mistake, the order had already been processed. The QX100 uses a Naze32 with a built in receiver for DSMX and DSM2 transmitters (Spektrum), it is not compatible with other receivers. I tried plugging in my receiver (R6DSM [Radiolink AT9]) into the UART port and it did not work either. As a last resort, I swapped out the flight controller entirely with one with a comparable dimension and weight. I have been testing the QX100 out for a few days now, and it is a load of fun. Although underpowered (as is all micro quads) once it gets up to speed, the quad is actually quite zippy. With the right tune, this thing handles amazingly, making it perfect for closer quarter flying. I've flown in kiddy playgrounds around swings and slides, in my house, my backyard, even on windy days. I have also been in dozens of crashes yet the QX100 keeps on going. What's great is the way the quad is setup, 90% of the time it will land on it's feet, letting me take off right where I crashed. This is a great quad, perfect for beginners and experts alike.
